Wellesbourne Wings & Wheels
This excellent event was at Wellesbourne Mountford
Airfield, around four miles East of
Stratford-upon-Avon, (30 - 40 mins from
Oxford). Wellesbourne is the home of Vulcan
Bomber XM655 and this was the day when they brought
it out to play! Also loads of classic cars,
military, other aircraft, displays and stalls.
Entry for the public was £5 but in a classic
entry was free - If you were on our e-mail
list you could wave your OxCMC "badge".
Donation to the Vulcan fund were appreciated.
You can arrive at Wellesbourne via the A429,
B4086 or B4087. The B4086 runs from
Stratford-upon-Avon and the B4087 runs from
junction 13 of the M40. From Oxford you can go
via Woodstock, Shipston on Stour (A3400) and then
right onto the A429 at the
roundabout. Wellesbourne is then about 7
miles. Alternatively, take the A429 from junction 15 of the M40.
You are then aiming for the East side of the
airfield. Follow the signs for the industrial
estate; these will lead you down a road towards
the M40 Distribution Park. Do not go in there;
instead there will be a gate onto the Airfield on
your right. There is a map on their web site.
